Conception Process

I just received my first check for “Symbols of Christmas” sold at Framtions! Hopefully it will be the first of many to come.

Conception Process for Charity Centerpiece: First: Research Marti Gras and all things New Orleans. Look up images associated with the subject for reference and ideas.

Then come up with areas of interest: Beads, Feathers, Anonymous, Purple Gold Green, King Cake, Parades, Doubloons, Comedy and

Holiday Season

It's been a busy Holiday Season this year. So much so, that I haven't had a chance to post in a while. With the exhibit downtown at the Fleischman Hillard Building for Art St. Louis, and the Holiday Show at Framations I've been very busy doing finishing some new work, framing, matting, and getting everything ready (Pictures coming soon). With the hustle and bustle of Christmas I'm going to Read More

Best of Show

Today was the reception for the Oak Leaf Holiday Show and "Skull" won third place. As the last award was being announced Ola was talking on stage about loving horses and agreeing with the judge's choice, and I'm thinking that can't be any of mine because I don't have any horses - trying to remember which pieces in the show did; so it was quite a shock when she Read More

Exhibits in the Holiday Season

I contacted Art St. Louis regarding the note mentioned in the last post, and I'm so glad that I did. I was offered an opportunity to exhibit in the Fleishman Hillard Building downtown; and while the exhibit won’t be open to the general public, I'll have a floor to myself in "a leading global marketing and corporate communications company" - at the peak holiday shopping season! Next week I'm helping Read More

Inspired

I received a letter from Art St. Louis telling me that my work has not been admitted into the XXIII Show. It was a standard form letter from the gallery (not the juror), at the bottom was a handwritten note saying that they loved my work and that I should contact them and set up something to exhibit my work at an off-site location.

Meet & Greet

The meet and greet last Sunday went well. I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by to say hi and see my artwork. I found a way to make great looking prints of my smaller works and had some 5x7 and 8x10 prints ready for the show last Sunday. I'm thinking about opening a web store to sell some of them, but I'd really like to get my process Read More

Postcard

Here is the postcard that I designed to send out to friends and family for a Meet and Greet at Framations Gallery.

Oak Leaf Fall Show

Today was the reception for the Oak Leaf Fall Show, my parents were there to see me get two awards - a Honorable Mention in the painting category for Blue Arches, and Second Place in the miscellaneous category for Queen of Hearts. I don't agree with some of the judges picks, but it couldn't have been easy to make a decision among such wonderful artwork. For example my Read More

Deadline Met

Today I mailed off my submission to Art St. Louis (three days early) consisting of Swan, Curious, Christmas, Midnight, and Chivalry; and I should know in October if any of them have been accepted. I've made minor changes to Swan, Curious, and Midnight since I last posted images of them. When I get a chance I'll upload the new pictures. I volunteered for a few hours for the receiving Read More

Work in Progress

Below are some of the pieces I've been working on. I'm not quite happy with 'Rome', it needs something to tie it all together, I'm just not sure what yet. 'Swan' could be done, but I may decide to go back in... it's so hard to pronounce things finished when there are things that you aren't quite sure about... which is always. Lastly, 'Curious' is
